Make-over for my makeup box

With Eid just 2 weeks away, I decided to do an audit of my make-up box. The reason for me undertaking this long-overdue task (which I had been successfully avoiding for over a year) was that I had run out of one of my must-have items, but could not be sure that I did not have another 1, or 2 or even 3 of these items lurking at the bottom of the mess in my make-up box (to which I affectionately refer as the ''Bermuda Triangle'' owing to its ability to make items that  land within it, disappear).

So, to save money by preventing myself from purchasing a possible quadruplicate of the same item, I half-heartedly embarked upon the task of unpacking, sorting and tossing out expired items.

Now if you're wondering if my overflowing make-up box is the result of me extravagantly spending my poor husband's hard earned pennies, let me assure you that it is not - I was lucky enough to receive about 20 almost-new make-up and other face products from my mother-in-law, when she won herself R2000 worth of Kanebo products. Never had I been more thrilled at someone else's good fortune.

The problem is that I now have many products that I am unlikely to use before their expiry date, since I seldomly have the opportunity to wear make-up. Also, these products remain hidden in my make-up box and tucked far out of reach of my daughters. I would love to display my make-up and perfumes beautifully the way I'd seen other women do, but I can just imagine the field day these girls would have should this delightful 'face-paint' be placed anywhere within their reach (as experience has, on numerous occasions, shown).

Thus it was only after carefully assessing what was still lacking from my skin care range, that I headed off to the nearest Clinique counter to make my carefully-considered purchases. And, much to my delight, I received a free gift consisting of:
